Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, is a Marvel Comics character and a prominent member of the X-Men. He first appeared in *The X-Men* #1 (September 1963).

As a mutant, Cyclops possesses the power to emit powerful beams of concussive force from his eyes. He cannot control these beams without the aid of ruby-quartz lenses or visors. Cyclops is the older brother of Alex Summers (Havok) and the son of Corsair (Christopher Summers), leader of the Starjammers.

Known for his strategic mind and unwavering dedication to Xavier's dream of mutant-human coexistence, Cyclops has often served as the leader of the X-Men. He is often torn between his duty and personal desires, most notably his complicated relationship with Jean Grey and later Emma Frost. Cyclops is a complex figure, respected for his leadership but sometimes criticized for his uncompromising methods.
